Abstract

LUZON, Antonio  and  TORRES, Mónica. The history of education within the studies about education in Europe: a compared approach. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2006, vol.28, n.114, pp.7-36. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article proposes a compared analysis of the place and relevance of history of education as an academic discipline within the studies about education in Europe. It is precisely as a result of the European convergence when we face a transformation and reformulation process within the studies about education in the universities and higher education institutions of the whole continent. This allows us to compare the degree granting structures and the orientation of the curricula, and those particular and defining features according to the different traditional university types prevailing in Europe as well. The author shows us the great diversity of the studies about education, taking into account the historical influence of certain models that prevail in the configuration of any university or higher education institution.
