Abstract

CALIXTO FLORES, Raúl. Social representations of environment. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2008, vol.30, n.120, pp.33-62. ISSN 0185-2698.

The social representations match with a knowledge type within the modern societies in which people are consumers of already made up scientific ideas. In thefield of environmental education there are still several social representations about topics, amongst which we can highlight those related to environment. This article deals with some ofthe main results reached by a research on the social representations about environment carried out on students of the Benemérita Escuela Nacional de Maestros de la ciudad de México (normal school). Amongst those results we observe the characterization of five social respresentation types about environment: anthropocentric, utilitarian, negotiated, naturalista and globalizing.

Keywords : Social representations; Environmental education; Research; Students.
