Abstract

ARTEAGA, Belinda  and  CAMARGO, Siddharta. The organization of the historical archives of Normal-teacher-training- schools in Mexico and the contribution of their contents regarding the history of education. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.145, pp.157-174. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article seeks to disseminate the purposes, meaning, scope and results of the program: Fundación de la Red de Archivos Históricos de las Escuelas Normales -Foundation of the Archives Network of Normal (teacher-training) Schools. Te program began in 2008 and by August 2011 had organized 12 historic files in as many colleges nationwide. This paper describes, in general, the content and organization of these 12 archives (basic dates, sections and subsections) along with the type of documentation contained in them. Finally, taking as an example the case of the rural teacher-training school Justo Sierra Mendez, in the locality of Hecelchakán (Campeche), a sample of the types of documents and information which could be recovered is shown, based on information retrieved from the archives.
