Abstract

RAMOS CALDERON, José Antonio. The paradox of the educational system: Its inclusive/exclusive nature. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.146, pp.154-173. ISSN 0185-2698.

This paper shows that the educational system operates under a paradox: that of inclusion/exclusion; it speaks of a paradox due to the fact that despite being inclusive (by law or right), given the organizational structure and dynamics it possesses, it is also exclusive. To achieve its aim, the paper is presented in three parts: in the first, it refers to the notion of the premise of paradox; in the second, it talks of the dynamics of paradox and its weak manifestation (on a system level) and strongform (in the organizational structure); whilst in the third part, it indicates that the inclusion/exclusion paradox does not stop the functioning of the system. The foundation of all the aforementioned is seen in the principles of systems theory by Niklas Luhmann.

Keywords : Systems theory; Education system; Paradox; Inclusion/exclusion; Form; Operational dynamics.
