Abstract

MIRANDA, Ana  and  CORICA, Agustina. Labor and extracurricular activities of secondary school youth in Argentina at the beginning of the XXI Century. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.148, pp.100-118. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article provides evidence of the transition from education to employment of a particular segment of youth in Argentina: graduates of secondary education. This analysis was carried out based on information provided during the project entitled "Labor force incorporation of middle-school graduates: 10 years later," a study that replicates a previous project developed in 1999. The information analyzed corresponds to periods characterized by dissimilar socio-economic situations: the first project provides evidence of labor force incorporation processes during the crisis in early 2000 and the second project shows these same processes in a period of economic growth and income redistribution at the beginning of 2010. The results are presented in a comparative fashion, in order to contribute to debate about youth transitions in different contexts and given different economic strategies.
