Abstract

JACINTO, Claudia. New logics of professional development in Argentina: Redefining education, labor and social logics. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.148, pp.120-137. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article discusses different logics of early and continuing professional development (PD) in Argentina. Key questions included the following: if the PD field was reconfigured during the 2003-2010 period through the establishment of new logics regarding PD functions, actors and ties, and to what extent these new logics reflected other logics that were already visible during the historical development of the PD field. The author concluded that previous educational, labor and social logics have become a framework for new public policies and for repositioning different social actors. While contradictions and tensions occurred between these different logics, introducing a perspective of social protection situated the actors in a broader social dialogue and helped conceive the target population as workers instead of beneficiaries of charity, helping to link capacity-building with universal subsidies, occupational guidance and bridges to the world of employment.
