Abstract

HIRSCH ADLER, Ana  and  NAVIA ANTEZANA, Cecilia. Articulaciones diversas entre las labores de investigación y de docencia según los académicos de posgrado de la UNAM. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.163, pp.11-25. ISSN 0185-2698.

The purpose of this article is to examine the opinions expressed by postgraduate academics at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) regarding the relationship between research work and their teaching and tutoring work. The information was compiled in 2017, using the questionnaire designed by Fernández-Cruz and Romero (2010), with the addition of four open questions. The paper analyzes responses to the question: How do your research projects influence your teaching and tutoring activities? Based on a simple stratified survey, responses were received from 399 online questionnaires. One of the main findings was that research is considered to have a tremendous influence on teaching and tutoring activities and that, to a lesser extent, teaching also influences research. The responses also indicated that both substantive functions can be articulated in various ways, some of them controversial.

Keywords : Postgraduate academics; Research; Teaching; Tutoring; Articulation of substantive functions.
