RAMOS MARTINEZ, Lucero  and  RUEDA BELTRAN, Mario. Distinctive features of formative evaluations for teaching performance. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.169, pp.144-159.  Epub Feb 15, 2021. ISSN 0185-2698.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2020.169.59287.

With this article, we seek to contribute to the debate on assessment of teaching performance by means of a compilation which identifies some of the most relevant features of formative assessment. We recover both the recommendations from a selection of 50 publications by various prominent researchers in the field, and some of the lessons learned from the most recent experience in Mexico. The article is organized in two sections: in the first, we review the specialized literature on formative assessment and offer a brief summation of the lessons learned from experience in assessment for continued employ ment in the Professional Teaching Service conducted in Mexico. In the second part, we describe the distinctive features of formative assessment focused on improving teaching performance.

Keywords : Formative assessment; Teacher assessment; Teaching performance; Teacher training; Teaching profession.
