Abstract
RODRIGUEZ LAGUNAS, Javier and HERNANDEZ VAZQUEZ, Juan Manuel. The student perspective on university reforms in four Mexican public institutions. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.170, pp.77-95. Epub Feb 04, 2021. ISSN 0185-2698. https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2020.170.59174.
This article reveals the students’ perspective regarding the educational reform processes set forth in four public universities: Autonomous Metropolitan University, (UAM by its acronym in Spanish), Autonomous University of Nayarit (UAN by its acronym in Spanish), Autonomous University of Tlaxcala (UATx by its acronym in Spanish) and Autonomous University of Chiapas (UNACH by its acronym in Spanish). We mainly focused in the changes concerning the school curriculum, teaching practices, the meaning of professional training, infrastructure and university services, and student’s participation in said educational reforms. In the light of the reforms suggested by the new policies regarding higher education we sought to explore the above-mentioned issues through the analysis of five indexes, developed from the information obtained by the RUPA 2014 survey. The results gathered in our research help to understand how university students participate in change and the way in which public universities make it their own; contributions are made regarding the difficulties that arise in educational change, both for the institutions and for the university community.
