PONCE CEBALLOS, Salvador; GARCIA CABRERO, Benilde; ROMO LOPEZ, Alejandra Margarita  and  AVINA CAMACHO, Issac. Characterization of assessment instruments for university tutors in Mexico. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2022, vol.44, n.176, pp.45-64.  Epub Apr 17, 2023. ISSN 0185-2698.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2022.176.60253.

With the intention of contributing to the field of tutoring assessment and improving the processes on this matter in Mexican institutions, this article documents the results of a quantitative research exercise that sought to characterize, from an exploratory scope, the instruments with which 28 higher education institutions in Mexico, from 24 states, evaluate undergraduate tutors. Our strategy consisted of analyzing the instruments based on a collegiate assessment process. The results allowed us to characterize the instruments regarding three aspects: tutor skills; instruments format and structure; and instrument analysis. The conclusions point to the importance of improving design processes, mainly regarding content, considering current trends in the field of tutoring and the realities of each institution; as well as of carrying out technical studies that contribute to the validity of this type of assessments.

Keywords : tutorships; assessment; instruments; diagnosis; higher education.
