Abstract

ESPINOZA, Oscar. Privatización y comercialización de la educación superior en Chile: una visión crítica. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2005, vol.34, n.135, pp.41-60. ISSN 0185-2760.

This paper talks about and documents privatization and commercialization processes on higher education in Chile after the structural reform which took place in 1981, as well as those playing a role on such processes, including the World Bank, the IDB, the IMF (exogenous factor) and the “Chicago Boys” (endogenous factor), either through the design or the implementation of commercial and educational policies or through credit negotiation. While the privatization of the tertiary system is analyzed from an institutional growth perspective and coverage expansion (enrollment), commercialization focuses both on the domestic and international perspective.

Keywords : Commercialization; higher education; Chile.
