Abstract

BACKHOFF ESCUDERO, Eduardo; RAMIREZ CUEVAS, José Luis  and  DIBUT TOLEDO, Lázaro. Desarrollo e implementación del examen de ubicación de matemáticas (Exumat). Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2005, vol.34, n.136, pp.19-32. ISSN 0185-2760.

The purpose of this document is to briefly describe Exumat and the Adaptation Exam System (SEA, Sistema de Exámenes Adaptativos), as well as to extensively talk about results of their application to students of Engineering at the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC). The Exumat is a computer based math exam based on the Item Answering Theory (TRI Teoría de Respuesta al Ítem) which may be applied in an adaptation manner and which rates mathematics constructed answer reactives. Both the exam and its computer based interphase have been improved; even though they are not completely finished yet it is now possible to use them for large scale evaluations. Results show that data provided by Exumat is of great help for education institution.

Keywords : Computing evaluation; learning.
