Abstract

This article introduces the Argentine higher education policies that have been implemented since 1995 to the present. The description takes place in the global scenario in which the higher education reforms were promoted by the international agencies. Quantitative and qualitative consequences of the global reforms are depicted in local terms. The historical increase of Argentine universities is described in order to establish the relevant trends of higher education in the last ten years. An innovative diagnosis leads to a new proposal, to conclude.
