This document is aimed at reviewing and analyzing the opportunities and differences prevailing at the skilled labor market in North America (Canada, Mexico and United States), and their implications in the higher education systems, mainly for the Mexican case. It approaches the demographic aging of the population of the region, the characteristics of professional labor markets of the three countries, the differences between the countries of North America with respect to licensing of professionals and the experience of the Free Trade Agreement of North America (NAFTA) in the matter of trade of professional services and its impacts in Mexico.
