Abstract

CAMACHO ESCOBAR, Marco Antonio; GARCIA-BAUTISTA, Yolanda  and  RAMIREZ-CANCINO, Laura. La licenciatura en Zootecnia en el sistema universitario mexicano: propuesta de reforma curricular. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2007, vol.36, n.143, pp.107-116. ISSN 0185-2760.

In Mexico the zootechny study plans, have usually been focused on sanitation as done by veterinarians or in nutrition as done by agronomists. This situation has caused that college graduates have a biased and incomplete education, affecting the development of the country animal production. With the intent of solving these problems, new curricula have been proposed attempting to address the producer's real needs, with some success, but frequently they have been superseded by study plans that respond more to a passing fashion than to real needs in the labor field. A curricular reform has been put forth where zootechny professionals are trained in specialized skills in handling particular animal specie, with new subject matters incorporated in order to resolve current problems in animal production in the country.

Keywords : Curricula; agricultural and livestock schools; study plans; animal production.
