Abstract

BECERRIL-TINOCO, Yuritzi; ROGEL-SALAZAR, Rosario  and  AGUADO-LOPEZ, Eduardo. Patrones de generación y consumo de información especializada en la investigación social en México. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2009, vol.38, n.149, pp.31-58. ISSN 0185-2760.

This article analyzes the challenges involved with the introduction of the information and communication technologies concerning use and consumer information patterns by the social scientists of Mexico. At first, a general view is offered about the edition of scientific magazines and their management to be consolidated as one of the principal channels of communication among specialists. Later, results of a research are presented as to show the practices of generation and information consumption between investigators of the sociology area in two public Mexican universities. The results allowed us to conclude that there exists scanty knowledge about electronic tools that offer specialized information, it might explain why their investigations are spread in local magazines.

Keywords : Scientific politics; bibliometrics indicators; consumption of scientific information; Mexican sociology.
