The aim of this investigation is to estimate the short and long run effect of higher education on economic growth in Mexico. Through a time series econometric analysis, results show that higher education and elementary education share a similar long run effect, while short run higher education effect is modest. Even thought, given the higher education public expenditure constraints, results also show a more efficient use of public resources within this educational sector.
