Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to determine the effect of establishing a retirement regulatory salary for the staff employees of San Luis Potosi Autonomous University (UASLP) based on the savings amount required for financing their retirement. With the new regulations UASLP has established on its retirement system, it is concluded that this norm doesn't have any effect on savings, since the decrease of these are not significant. However, there are some variables that have a profound impact on savings, and must be subjected to close scrutiny, to take the measures conducive to implementing the correct regulations for future scenarios; such is the case of employees' wage rise, the financial return of retirement funds, the years worked to get retired and the life expectancy of people.
