Abstract

HERNANDEZ HERRERA, Claudia Alejandra; RODRIGUEZ PEREGO, Nicolás  and  VARGAS GARZA, Ángel Eduardo. Los hábitos de estudio y motivación para el aprendizaje de los alumnos en tres carreras de ingeniería en un tecnológico federal de la ciudad de México. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2012, vol.41, n.163, pp.67-87. ISSN 0185-2760.

This paper shows the results of a diagnosis on the motivation levels and studying habits of students enrolled in three Engineering programs at a recently created Federal Technology College, in Mexico City. Thus habits and motivation, which influence students' academic lives, were compared through a study conducted between October and November 2011, whereby 414 students from three business management engineering programs were surveyed. The results show that their studying habits present several issues regarding organization, planning, mnemonics, reading comprehension, studying at home and a lack of strategies for increasing motivation and self-esteem.

Keywords : Studying habits; Higher education; Motivation for learning.
