Abstract

RIVERO FRANYUTTI, Agustín. ¿Qué son hoy las humanidades y cuál ha sido su valor en la universidad?. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2013, vol.42, n.167, pp.81-100. ISSN 0185-2760.

In recent years some publications have appeared that predicted the end of the humanities. This situation has to do with the development of science and technology (they serve as the guide for the development of societies), and the world economy, which does not tolerate the unproductive or the "accessory". In this context it is worth asking, what are the humanities today? What do they produce?, and how do they work within the universities?, the only field in which they survive and are trying to develop. To answer these questions, this article begins with the history of the Renaissance, where the humanities came into being, and it continues their career within the University so that we can better understand how and why this group of disciplines has come to the current situation of danger.
