Abstract

CALDERA MONTES, Juan Francisco; CARRANZA ALCANTAR, María del Rocío; JIMENEZ PADILLA, Alma Azucena  and  PEREZ PULIDO, Ignacio. College students' attitudes toward tutoring: Designing a measurement scale. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2015, vol.44, n.173, pp.103-124. ISSN 0185-2760.

This study analyzed the attitudes of college students toward tutoring. We designed and tested an Attitudes Towards Tutoring Scale, which demonstrated satisfactory psychometric properties when applied to a sample group of 539 students. Overall, the students revealed slightly positive attitudes, although there were some significant differences depending on the gender or college major. We propose carrying out further research to understand the reasons behind the findings, as well as to gauge the degree to which tutoring has impacted the quality of educational programs.
