Abstract

VALDES GARCIA, María Alejandra. Ékphrasis and Diatýposis in Panegyrics to the Martyrs of Basil of Caesarea. Nova tellus [online]. 2012, vol.30, n.2, pp.117-151. ISSN 0185-3058.

The ékphrasis or description is well represented in the Panegyrics on martyrs of Saint Basil. A complete account use to precede it before paying attention on one of his elements. Description is also closely related with the so called diatýposis or hypotýposis in the development of the koinós tópos whose principal aim is transforming the audience into a witness of the acts, by representing in their minds the narrated images.

Keywords : description; ékphrasis; progymnásmata; common place; Basil of Caesarea.
