Abstract
BERRUECOS FRANK, Bernardo. Herodotus ὁµηϱιϰώτατος. The Transformation of Homeric Vocabulary into Herodotus’ Histories. Nova tellus [online]. 2015, vol.32, n.2, pp.115-171. ISSN 0185-3058.
It has become almost a cliché in Herodotean studies to declare the Homeric legacy of the Histories. An abundant bibliography has contributed to it in several ways. The present study hopes to strengthen this research area through the analysis of the forms of articulation of certain common concepts in Homer’s epics and the Histories, and also to interpret the proceedings by which their significance and representations are transformed. This semantic décalage is established as a fundamental principle that provides an elucidation of the basis of the historical discourse and, at the same time, it offers a possible interpretation model of Herodotus’ work and its place in the history of Greek thought.
