Abstract

FLORES GONZALEZ, Joaquín Venancio. Μοῖϱα in Homer. Nova tellus [online]. 2015, vol.33, n.2, pp.47-79. ISSN 0185-3058.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.nt.2015.33.2.734.

In this paper I intend to provide a thorough understanding of the notion of µοῖϱα as we find in Homer, one that contemplates and gathers its several specific meanings. The focus is on the registration of µοῖϱα in Homeric moral: µοῖϱα gravitates around the more general notion of limit beings, or τιµή, like ὕβϱις, νέµεσις, αἰδώς, τίσις, δίϰη, θέµις and many others.

Keywords : µοῖϱα; Homer; Morality; Significance.
