Abstract

CANDANO, Graciela. Comic Characters in Disciplina clericalis and El Conde Lucanor. Acta poét [online]. 2009, vol.30, n.1, pp.29-59. ISSN 2448-735X.

Exemplary stories were staple resources on preaching strategies during the Middle Ages, in order to achieve an effective learning of the edifying lesson. On the other side, beneath the didactical language shared by a collection of exempla, they show certain traits moving to laughter. This essay is aimed to define a few comical motifs which (hidden in universality claims) may provide a frame to unveil the comicality within exemplary literature from Late Middle Ages.

Keywords : exemplary literature; medieval sermon; comic motifs; Pedro Alfonso; Don Juan Manuel.
