Abstract

MUNOZ COVARRUBIAS, Pablo. Four Notes About Manuel Altolaguirre's Garcilaso de la Vega. Acta poét [online]. 2013, vol.34, n.2, pp.189-211. ISSN 2448-735X.

Manuel Altolaguirre was the only poet of the Generation of '27 to write a book entirely devoted to Garcilaso. Garcilaso de la Vega (1933) is a biography which, despite lacking a rigorous approach, sheds some light on the poet's life by establishing parallels between his poetry and his heroic deeds. Through the pages of Garcilaso de la Vega, it becomes clear just how significant the life and works of Garcilaso were in the eyes of Altolaguirre. The biography also reveals Altolaguirre's opinions on issues such as art, politics and the history of Spain. This article focuses on these elements and explores the writing process of the biography.

Keywords : Manuel Altolaguirre; Garcilaso de la Vega; Generation of '27; Spanish Golden Age; biography.
