Abstract

BALCAZAR MORENO, Melina. Regarding the Pain of Others. Tears of Marguerite Duras. Acta poét [online]. 2017, vol.38, n.1, pp.123-137. ISSN 2448-735X.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.ap.2017.1.773.

Throughout her narrative and cinematographic work, Marguerite Duras explores the possibilities of transformation —of the subject, of history— that may be catalized by emotion. An emotion that the author wants overflowing, excessive, as a form of insubordination against moral and social order. Therefore, tears —hers and those of her characters— seek to tell us more about the power of pathos, through the relationship established between death and desire.

Keywords : mourning; emotion; image; genocide; Duras; Sontag.
