Abstract

RIVERA, Leonarda. Unamuno, Don Juan and the Mal du siècle. Acta poét [online]. 2020, vol.41, n.2, pp.95-110.  Epub Oct 22, 2020. ISSN 2448-735X.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.ap.2020.41.2.0006.

Don Juan by Miguel de Unamuno belongs to the gallery of old and tired “donjuanes” that begin to populate the European Literature from late Nineteenth Century and extends into the Twentieth Century, that not only shows the inside of a series of elements of their own age like Boredom, Fatigue, Weariness, Tedium, etc., but also illustrates how this figure, that was born with Modernity, in the end also succumbs to the end-of-century crisis.

Keywords : Don Juan; Boredom; End of Century; Tedium; Crisis.
