Abstract
FRAIRE-CORDERO, María de Lourdes et al. Alternaria tenuissima, A. alternata and Fusarium oxysporum Fungi Causes of the Rotting of the Floret of Broccoli. Rev. mex. fitopatol [online]. 2010, vol.28, n.1, pp.25-33. ISSN 2007-8080.
During the months of July-October of 2005 and 2006, circular necrotic spots, dark coffee were observed in florets of broccoli in Guanajuato, Mexico. Florets of broccoli with symptoms were collected and of the symptomatic tissue were isolated Alternaria tenuissima, A. alternata and Fusarium oxysporum, which were identified morphologically and molecularly. The pathogenicity tests showed that the three fungi are causal agents of the rotting of floret in broccoli. The first symptoms were observed to 48 h after inoculation, A. tenuissima and A. alternata presented necrotic spots of 1mm in the floral bellboys and y F. oxysporum presented superficial growth. To 96 h the necrotic spots caused by A. alternata y A. tenuissima were of 3 cm of diameter with a sodden texture, the necrosis advanced quickly until to arrive at the stems next to the floral bellboys and in the case of A. alternata penetrated stems of 2 and 3 cm of diameter. F. oxysporum to 96 h caused to a gray rotting of 3 cm of diameter in bellboys and pedicels with abundant white mycelium which extended quickly, rotting included the stems next to the floral bellboys.
