Abstract
QUINTANA OBREGON, Eber Addí et al. Antifungal Activity of Chitosan in vitro Against Alternaria tenuissima and Safflower Seeds. Rev. mex. fitopatol [online]. 2011, vol.29, n.2, pp.168-171. ISSN 2007-8080.
The effect of 3.4 g L-1 of chitosan (46.31 kDa) on Alternaria tenuissima isolated from safflower variety S-518. The incidence rate of seeds planted in Alternaria infected PDA was 19.5%. Chitosan incorporated in PDA inhibited the germination of spores in 90.2% at 24 h with respect to the acid and the control of the colony radial growth at 216 h was decreased. The incidence of A. tenuissima in seeds treated with chitosan for 30 min and cultured on PDA showed no significant difference (P<0.05) compared to controls. Chitosan did not decrease the percentage of safflower seed germination over control.
