OROPEZA, Déborah. The Migration of Free Asians to the Central Region of the Vice-Royalty of New Spain, 1565-1700. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2016, vol.37, n.147, pp.347-363. ISSN 2448-7554.

The establishment of trans-Pacific communication between New Spain and the Philippine Islands in 1565 spurred the development of significant cultural, economic and migratory processes involving these two areas, including the trans-Pacific migration of free Asians to the central region of the Vice-Royalty of New Spain from 1565 to 1700. This article analyzes the diverse groups that participated in this complex migratory phenomenon and examines the factors that gave rise to this process.
