Abstract

BRICK, Aarón. Guadalupe Victoria had a Spanish Grandfather. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.42, n.165, pp.179-186.  Epub Feb 03, 2022. ISSN 2448-7554.  https://doi.org/10.24901/rehs.v42i165.759.

Guadalupe Victoria’s father was born in Salamanca, Michoacán (today in Guanajuato), in 1750. This document contains the first published details on his origins in the form of three sacramental records. These materials help us refine our understanding of the upbringing and political thought of his son who would become a guerrilla fighter and later President of the nascent Mexican nation. The fact that Guadalupe Victoria had a Spanish grandfather is of particular interest.

Keywords : Genealogy; sacramental records; insurgent; independence.
