Abstract

The work focuses on the study of epidemics and droughts that occurred in the Mixteca Alta of Oaxaca at the end of the 18th century. It analyzes the impact of some diseases like smallpox, measles, and typhus on the inhabitants, on the same way, it addresses how they survived while facing a period of climatic anomalies, such as droughts and frosts. The article examines the social and economic consequences in Mixtec communities after a prolonged period of illnesses and meteorological adversities.
