Abstract

SURI SALVATIERRA, Karime. Gender inequality and violence in teaching practice of the Faculty of Architecture (UNAM). Experiences of university professors. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2024, vol.45, n.178, pp.33-54.  Epub Apr 26, 2024. ISSN 2448-7554.  https://doi.org/10.24901/rehs.v45i178.1025.

This article reports some findings that were identified in the first phase of a qualitative investigation, in which women who work as professors of the degrees in architecture and urbanism of the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (FA-UNAM) were interviewed. The research aims to identify practices in the teaching of architectural-urban disciplines that could strengthen gender stereotypes and make violence against women -teachers and/or students- invisible. Through the “feminist interview”, it seeks to know the specificity of the experiences of women as teachers in an academic and disciplinary space that still exhibits a strong patriarchal structure.

Keywords : Teaching; teaching practice; gender equality; gender violence; feminism.
