Abstract

FIERRO HERNANDEZ, Olivia Graciela. The Virgin hands power: images of saints and virgins social construction in valle de San Francisco (San Luis Potosí and Guanajuato, Mexico). Trace (Méx. DF) [online]. 2018, n.73, pp.87-116. ISSN 2007-2392.

This article presents an approach to the holy images’ social construction in the region that was previously known as Valle de San Francisco, which borders the States of San Luis Potosí and Guanajuato, Mexico. Throughout the text, we will attempt to demonstrate how saints and virgins images that are venerated in this region are condensing units of meaning that are built, integrated, share and reproduced through social media in which are built experience, emotions, senses, acting and creative processes linked to a social group.

Keywords : saints; virgins; image; power; acting; social construction.
