Abstract

VARGAS CARRASCO, Felipe de Jesús. The migrant via crucis: demands and membership. Trace (Méx. DF) [online]. 2018, n.73, pp.117-133. ISSN 2007-2392.

The migrant Stations of the Cross are contentious collective actions that have several special notes: they are transnational, involving migrants with an irregular status who use the religious performance to expose their political demands; they use public and private areas such as state and federal roads, squares, railway tracks, train cars, parishes and migrant hostels. In this article, we analyze the migrant Stations of the Cross from the political progress approach that allows us to identify the members of the movement and their demands. The above reveals the emergence of a social movement that fights for the human rights defense of migrants in route to Mexico.

Keywords : Social movements; contentious collective actions; transit migration; progress; human rights.
