Abstract

DONJUAN ESPINOZA, Esperanza  and  TREJO CONTRERAS, Zulema. Overview of the Ups and Downs of the Administrative Structure of the Treasury Department in Sonora, 1830-1876. Secuencia [online]. 2009, n.73, pp.33-59. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i73.1064.

The essay undertakes a wide-ranging analysis of the institutional structure of the treasury department in Sonora, based largely on the legislation issued on it by state congress. It describes and analyzes its organization chart and functioning over a period of forty-six years, emphasizing the changes that took place as a result of the establishment of different systems of government: federal republic, centralist government, dictatorship and monarchy. The paper highlights the strengths and weaknesses of Sonora's treasury department in the 19th century, as well as the reform attempts that began to be carried out in the early 1850s and were cut short by the advent of Santa Ana's last presidency.
