This article analyzes the behavior of a construction executive Juan Canals, in the city of Rosario during the second half of the 19th century. It studies the projects he submitted to the municipality for the construction of slaughterhouses and wholesale markets in 1889. Particular attention is paid to the economic and relational strategies used by this executive. The author analyzes his political links and the way this proposal is related to the rest of his business. The importance of this article lies in its contribution to the knowledge of construction executives which has rarely been explored by Argentinean historiography.
