Abstract

LICHTMAJER, Leandro. Designing a Political Strategy to Oppose Peronism: Radicals, Journalists and the Written Press in Tucuman, 1943-1949. Secuencia [online]. 2013, n.86, pp.169-191. ISSN 2395-8464.

The article seeks to analyze the dynamics of relations between the political opposition and actors within the sphere of the written press during the emergence and consolidation of Peronism, in order to advance an aspect that has barely been researched in the historiography of the issue. It explores the joint strategies carried out by the Radical Civic Union, La Gaceta newspaper and the Press Circle in the province of Tucumán during the period from I943 to I949. It posits the hypothesis that following the electoral defeat of 1946, radicalism devised an opposition strategy next to both actors that recognized antecedents in the period created by the coup d etat in 1943, when a constellation of political sectors supported opposition to the regime that developed within the sphere of the written press.

Keywords : Radical Civic Union; written press; peronism; political opposition; Tucuman.
