Abstract

BETANCOURT MENDIETA, Alexander. A National Story in a Local Space: The Mexican Revolution in San Luis Potosi. Secuencia [online]. 2013, n.87, pp.129-152. ISSN 2395-8464.

The paper presents an analysis of the construction of memory about the events of the Mexican Revolution in the production of writing on the local history of San Luis Potosi. The text focuses on the way certain issues concerning the Mexican Revolution have remained in this production since the 1960s. It also highlights the way this dynamic is eventually condensed into school textbooks disseminating the central role of San Luis Potosi in Mexican national processes at the local level. Thus, the paper proposes the contextualization of certain national processes that may justify the approach to new forms of analysis for writing about the regional history of San Luis Potosí at both the historiographical and political level.

Keywords : Historiography; National History; Regional History; Cultural History; Contemporary History.
