Abstract

CORREA PEREZ, Pedro David. Could the Revolution Wait? The PRV in the Debates and Actions of Venezuelan Exiles (1927-1929). Secuencia [online]. 2022, n.114, e2094.  Epub Feb 07, 2023. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i114.2094.

This paper analyzes the positions of the Partido Revolucionario Venezolano (PRV) in debates and conspiracies taken place between Venezuelan exiles in 1927-1929. Paper’s objectives are to identify the different positions that emerged among the Venezuelan exiles in these years, analyze the arguments presented by the PRV militants in this discussion, and explain the implications of these positions in the events led by the exiles against the dictatorship in 1929. In general, the work helps to understand the dynamics of Mexico as a place of refuge in the 1920s. From this study, I critique the scheme and periodization of the opposition to gomecism proposed by the historian Manuel Caballero.

Keywords : Venezuelan exiles; Venezuelan Revolutionary Party; Juan Vicente Gómez; communism; anti-imperialism.
