Abstract

SALVI, Valentina. The Dialogical Device. What can be Said in Memorial Disputes in Argentina. Secuencia [online]. 2023, n.117, e2087.  Epub July 25, 2023. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i117.2087.

In Argentina, various voices of relatives of the military convicted of crimes against humanity and the right-wing political spectrum are currently coalescing around criticism of the reports on state terrorism, justice and reparation policies implemented during the Kirchner governments (2003-2015) and actions of human rights organizations. In this context of acute political polarization, the memorial device of dialogue, with its increasing international circulation, was presented within the scenario of disputes over memory as an updated form of managing the recent past as an alternative to justice. This article seeks to analyze dialogue as a means of “enunciation” or “making people see and talk” about the past, focusing on the symbolic and political conditions governing these dialogic exchanges and the effects of meaning they produce in memories of the dictatorial past.

Keywords : dialogue; disputes over memories; Argentina; Macrismo.
