Abstract

CASTILLO RODRIGUEZ, Jesús. Financial Losses in Vehicle Manufacturing in Mexico due to COVID-19. Secuencia [online]. 2024, n.119, e2242.  Epub June 10, 2024. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i119.2242.

Mexico is a key player in the automotive industry, but during the pandemic, auto manufacturing was hit by health measures suspending its activity because it was not a priority sector. The central research aim is to determine the financial losses caused by the suspension of car and light truck manufacturing due to the economic crisis triggered by COVID-19. The methodology used is based on a multiple econometric regression with a binary qualitative variable of ones and zeros to capture the effect of COVID-19 on vehicle production, with preliminary results showing eight-figures losses.

Keywords : COVID-19; automotive industry; vehicles; production.
