BAEZA-HERRERA, Carlos; LOPEZ-MEDINA, Perla; NAJERA-GARDUNO, Heladio Marino  and  MARTINEZ-LEO, Bruno Adrián. Omphalopylephlebitis and neonatal hepatic abscess. Acta pediatr. Méx [online]. 2015, vol.36, n.3, pp.177-181. ISSN 2395-8235.

Omphalopylephlebitis and hepatic abscess in neonates are rare conditions mostly associated with Staphylococcus epidermidis infection and constitutes a complication of umbilical venous catheterization. The systemic infection is associated to diagnostic difficulties. We present the clinical and surgical findings of a twelve days male newborn patient with omphalopylephlebitis and hepatic abscess associated to umbilical vein catheterization.

Keywords : Pylephlebitis; Sepsis; Umbilical vein; Hepatic abscess.
