Abstract

SANCHEZ DE LA CRUZ, R et al. Glomus intraradices and Azospirillum brasilense in wheat grown under two regimes of soil humidity. Universidad y ciencia [online]. 2008, vol.24, n.3, pp.239-245. ISSN 0186-2979.

Greenhouse and field studies were conducted in order to determine the influence of the arbuscular my-corrhizal fungus Glomus intraradices (G) and/or the plant growth promoting rizobacterium Azospirillum brasilense (A) on the wheat variety 'Sauteña F-01'. The independent inoculation of G or A in the greenhouse increased plant height, fresh and dry leaf biomass, and root biomass. Mycorrhizal colonisation increased in all treatments with microsymbionts. These had no effect on the characteristics of the plants, mycorrhizal colonisation, yield or grain quality, both in the field and under two humidity regimes (rain-fed and with irrigation). The field results indicated that wheat responded only when irrigation was applied.

Keywords : Triticum aestivum; growth; grain yield; beneficial microorganisms.
