Abstract
ZAMORANO, P; BARRANCO-SERVIN, LM and RODRIGUEZ-TRONCOSO, AP. Evaluation of the ballyhoo's Hemiramphus brasiliensis (Piscis: Hemiramphidae) fishery in the Parque Nacional Isla Contoy, Quintana Roo, during the 2004 season. Universidad y ciencia [online]. 2010, vol.26, n.1, pp.107-113. ISSN 0186-2979.
The fishery of the ballyhoo in Isla Contoy does not have a negative effect on the populations of other fish species. The length at first capture coincides with immature or maturing organisms. Bigger females present mature gonads. As in other studies, the females are significantly bigger than the males, although in contrast with other studies, the number of males doubles that of females (2:1).
