Abstract

HALABE-CHEREM, José  and  HAMUI-SUTTON, Liz. The medical consultation for WhatsApp: A deterioration in the doctor-patient relationship. Med. interna Méx. [online]. 2018, vol.34, n.4, pp.619-621. ISSN 0186-4866.  https://doi.org/10.24245/mim.v34i4.2137.

Currently, the WhatsApp® messaging application has become one of the main forms of virtual communication since it allows to establish interpersonal and group relationships, and has even generated a language based on emoticons that allows transmitting ideas and feelings. The medical consultation has not been left out of this new mode of communication as it is increasingly common for patients to consult doctors through the use of this application for smartphones. However, due to the importance of the doctor-patient relationship, it is not the ideal means to provide adequate care to patients in relation to the consultation of a condition.
