Abstract

SIERRA MARTINEZ, Andrés. Solidarity, territory, and collective learningin urban conflicts: The General Assembly of Peoples, Neighbourhoods, Communities, and “Pedregales” of Coyoacán. Estud. demogr. urbanos [online]. 2022, vol.37, n.2, pp.483-512.  Epub June 27, 2022. ISSN 2448-6515.  https://doi.org/10.24201/edu.v37i2.2049.

This paper analyzes the emergence of solidarity networks and collective learning spaces as one of the consequences of urban socio-environmental conflicts. It describes the case of the General Assembly of Peoples, Neighborhoods, Communities and Pedregales of Coyoacán, an organization that emerges in a conflict over the environmental damage caused by a real estate project south of Mexico City. It is argued that solidarity networks and collective learning are part of a territorialization process with expectations of environmental justice mobilized in protest.

Keywords : urban conflicts; territory; solidarity; environmental justice.
