Abstract

OBREGON BIOSCA, Saúl Antonio. Work, study and shopping trip patterns in the Queretaro Metropolitan Area. Estud. demogr. urbanos [online]. 2023, vol.38, n.1, pp.207-245.  Epub May 12, 2023. ISSN 2448-6515.  https://doi.org/10.24201/edu.v38i1.2140.

The population and the economic activities in a region are attracted to the metropolitan areas, inducing travel needs. This research analyzes the characteristics and spatial distribution of the mandatory and optional trips by transport means, using an Origin Destination Survey for the classic transport model. The results show that the bus is used for school mobility, while the car is mostly used for shopping and work; and that the centrality level of residence is directly related to the job centrality.

Keywords : mandatory mobility; optional trips; transportation; travel patterns.
