Abstract

HAIDAR, Victoria. Mass Society: Readings from Ordoliberalism and the Frankfurt School. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2016, vol.31, n.88, pp.29-64. ISSN 2007-8358.

In this article, the author establishes a dialogue between a series of texts by writers from the ordoliberal current and another series of texts by the more representative thinkers of the Frankfurt School, whose central axis is the critical analysis of mass society, which both perspectives sketch. The article underlines the different problems connected to the discussion about the masses, emphasizing the functioning of the concerns common to the two approaches. It is a contribution to the history of how the issue of the masses has been thought about in sociological and social theory.

Keywords : mass society; ordoliberalism; Frankfurt School.
